Eating habits of the Shire

Do you ever think about what foods hobbits would eat, and how they'd match with whatever you're having? I'm having roast beef and potatoes right now, enjoying the beginning of autumn... and wondering whether or not the hobbits would like a bite too. I'd like to think they ate a fair amount of farm animals and game meat (which is hard to come by) but sigh! I think I'd enjoy being a hobbit, since I love sticking meals in the crockpot and having a lovely comforting meal to come home to. I'd like to think hobbits are about the same!
